The new readers offer an additional protocol (on their air interface) for MOBY E tags (classic MIFARE, ISO 14443 A) and automatic recognition of various transponder types (RF300, ISO 15693, classic MIFARE). This simplifies migration from older systems and paves the way for new applications. The compact system is designed to control and optimize material flow in industrial production, particularly on assembly lines and in very compact part support systems.
The new generation of readers can be seamlessly integrated into Simatic controllers. It is fully compatible with the existing RF300 product family: mechanically (dimensions, mounting holes), electrically (power supply and interfaces), and in terms of system integration (application software, function blocks, communication modules). Migration is easy and cost-effective: in older MOBY I systems, only the readers and transponders need to be replaced. MOBY E systems can be expanded with RF300 readers. This allows for cost-effective retrofitting of MOBY E installations without having to replace the transponders.
The new user-friendly setup help finds the optimal antenna position for high reliability, especially in metallic environments. This allows users to optimize the transponder and reader positions during installation and commissioning without requiring additional equipment. Both the RF310R and RF340R readers have an integrated antenna. An external antenna can be connected to the RF350R. Antennas are available in various shapes and sizes to suit different applications. Other devices and functions of the Simatic RF300 RFID system will be updated in the near future.
Siemens has modernized its Simatic RF300 RFID system with the launch of three new readers: the RF310R, RF340R, and RF350R. These readers are integrated within the Simatic Step 7 and TIA Portal engineering systems for easy commissioning. The new readers offer an additional protocol (on their air interface) for MOBY E tags (classic MIFARE, ISO 14443 A) and automatic recognition of various transponder types (RF300, ISO 15693, classic MIFARE).
