In addition to detection distances of up to 500 mm, the high-resolution CSS offers automatic detection distance regulation: even with changing distances and different object sizes, it accurately recognizes colors.
Furthermore, the sensor's full-color TFT display shows the RGB L*a*bo values and the similarity of a detected color to a stored color. Up to 24 colors per identification task can be transferred and stored externally via the IO-Link interface. Thanks to application-specific configuration support, the sensor is quickly installed using the SOPAS software.
With its high color resolution and large depth of field, the high-resolution CSS color sensor distinguishes color nuances that are difficult for the human eye to see. Even color gradients and textured materials and surfaces, such as wood, stone, or fabric, pose no challenge thanks to the innovative learning process. The sensor can even detect materials with heterogeneous coloration.
Different distances to the object often influence a sensor's color perception. SICK compensates for this effect with automatic scan range adjustment, enabling the high-resolution CSS to accurately assign colors, even with varying object heights. Automatic scan range adjustment allows the sensor to detect objects of different sizes at varying distances, up to 500 mm, without requiring re-teaching in a single process or manual focus adjustment, saving time and ensuring flexibility.
Thanks to the intelligent configuration assistance of the SOPAS software, the color sensor is installed with exceptional speed and precision in the corresponding application. Furthermore, the ease of diagnostics, monitoring, and adjustment of the high-resolution CSS during operation ensures greater efficiency. This is all made possible by IO-Link, an interface that also allows for the parallel transfer of up to 24 colors and their external storage.
Applications for this sensor range from quality control to object sorting and separation, and the positioning of marks and objects.
