The new programmable servo actuator also incorporates a safety PLC, enabling a comprehensive safety solution while the actuator is in use. This eliminates the need for external safety PLCs and their associated complexity, resulting in shorter reaction times. The integrated safety functions provide a functional, programmable safety system for the safe operation of the machines.
Moog servo actuator software with PLC safety functions consists of pre-programmed modules for all common sensors, each available as a logic element. Selecting various safety functions (SLS, SLI, etc.) is also straightforward. Programming is accomplished by linking the different input devices and safety functions to standard logic functions.
When a machine requires multiple safe inputs and outputs (e.g., emergency stop, mode selectors, light barriers), the scalable nature of the product allows for distribution across multiple actuators. Each actuator contains the master PLC, enabling communication between actuators via the common communication channel (SCC). The actuators can be programmed using a functional block diagram language similar to that described in IEC 61131-3 for PLCs. This visual approach provides the user with an intuitive environment for creating their safety applications.
Currently available in frame sizes from 1 to 4, in configurations from 4 to 32 amps, the new servo actuator is designed for motion control in applications such as metal forming, plastics processing, textile production, packaging, machine tools, and testing and simulation equipment.
