The new 8F-DI Ex Namur, 4F-DO Ex 40mA/17.4V, and 4F-AI Ex Hart modules meet the highest safety requirements according to important standards such as IEC 61508 up to SIL 3. This allows them to be integrated into the ET 200iSP system, even in zones 1/21, without the need for
an additional Ex barrier. The associated intrinsically safe sensors and actuators can be installed in zones 0/20. The new modules are suitable for applications such as ESD (emergency shutdown), boiler protection, and fire and gas equipment protection. For fire and gas applications, the new modules feature the important diagnostic functions "last valid value" and "energize-to-trip."
The intrinsically safe Profibus variant is used for communication between the Simatic ET 200iSP distributed control system and the higher-level controllers. This allows the same cable to be used for both standard automation data and safety signals according to the Profisafe profile. The Step 7 engineering tool is used to configure the Simatic ET 200iSP stations and modules. For safety applications, the optional Step 7 packages, Distributed Safety and S7 F-Systems, include
