fluke162x-2-w earth resistance testerFluke's new ground resistance testers help engineers and electricians comply with electrical codes, engineering requirements, and local regulations to ensure that in the event of lightning strikes or power surges, current finds a safe path to ground. They perform the four typical ground resistance measurements: 3- and 4-pole potential drop, 4-pole soil resistivity, selective measurement without disconnecting the system ground, and ground rod-less testing.
The new testers feature internal memory and USB connectivity for easy storage of up to 1,500 time-stamped records and quick download of measurements to a computer, eliminating the need for manual data transfer. Additionally, the screen size has been increased for easier reading in any environment.
New accessories include easy-to-use cable reels, robust ground rods that drive easily into even the hardest ground, color-coded leads, and a practical and durable carrying case. All of this is designed to make testing faster and yield better results.
The 1625-2 model offers advanced features such as Automatic Frequency Control (AFC), which identifies interference in the field and selects the most appropriate measurement frequency for more accurate readings; and R* measurement to calculate grounding impedance at 55 Hz, thus more precisely displaying the resistance that would be encountered in the event of a ground fault. It also features adjustable limits for faster testing and an on-screen battery life indicator.
The new 1623-2 and 1625-2 grounding resistance meters are available in basic versions or in kits that include the meter, test leads, alligator clips, battery, ground rods, cable reels, and a carrying case. A 320 mm (12.7 in) split-core transformer is available as an optional accessory for selective testing at the individual bases of medium- and high-voltage power towers.
