Molex-w waveguide“Excellent laser guidance and precise visible beam steering are vital requirements for handheld probes and other laser therapy equipment in the operating room,” explains Imke Kuester, Fiber Optics Business Development Manager. He continues, “Until now, bulky articulated arms and handheld probes with two fiber optic cables—one for illumination and the other for laser power transmission—have been the only option. Polymicro Technologies MediSpec HSW hollow waveguide technology with steerable beam steering is a game-changer. By combining visible beam steering with laser power transmission in a single fiber for CO2 and Er:YAG laser systems, surgeons now have a lightweight solution that enables safer, easier, and faster treatments.”

Suitable for a wide range of laser power solutions, the Polymicro Technologies MediSpec HSW (Hollow Silica Waveguide) is available in 500 µm, 750 µm, and 1000 µm inner diameters with a wavelength range of 2.9 µm to 10.6 µm. The Tefzel* sheath material is biocompatible and withstands sterilization processes for invasive medical procedures. Various terminations are available upon request, including SMA, ST, and FC connectors.

Manufactured in one of Molex's FDA-registered production facilities, the Polymicro Technologies MediSpec HSW Waveguide meets all labeling, packaging, and sterilization requirements set forth in FDA 21 CFR 820 QSR (Quality System Regulation) and cGMP standards.
