Telemedicine is not only a new concept, but also the prelude to a more complex paradigm shift in healthcare, where traditional in-person care is complemented by remote care, both personalized and automated.
Futurs, the technology division of the Ribera healthcare group, has been working for some time on developing the remote hospital, a concept of clinical care and medical follow-up that, thanks to the intensive use of various information technologies, will allow for personalized services to be offered to each patient from a non-invasive perspective.
The remote hospital Futurs is working on incorporates the use of Internet of Things (IoT) devices to measure various vital signs of patients, wherever they are. The data is stored in their own electronic health record, Cynara Care, developed by Futurs and implemented in the hospitals of the Ribera healthcare group. Thanks to this, patients' quality of life in relation to an illness can be assessed before a doctor sees them in person.
Furthermore, in many of the projects already implemented, these measurements are analyzed in real time by Artificial Intelligence algorithms capable of detecting anomalies and alerting a doctor so they can review them and, if necessary, prescribe treatment or order additional tests.
Cynara Citizen, also known as YOsalud, allows access to medical assistance without having to travel to a doctor's office, clinic, or hospital. With YOsalud, patients can chat with their primary care physician, who can prescribe medication without them having to leave their home. Furthermore, it compiles all of the patient's medical reports and tests, and even allows users to view video recordings of exercises performed by professionals from the Ribera healthcare group.
The ecosystem created by Futurs also integrates proprietary solutions and co-innovation with startups developed by specialists in various healthcare fields. Examples include Minds, Ribera's online psychological therapy service; Lola, the virtual caregiver; nutritional advice; telerehabilitation; digital dermatology consultations; and patient telemonitoring services, among others.
