The LECTOR®65x barcode reader is available in two different versions, depending on the type of focus it uses: the "Flex" version and the "Dynamic Focus" version. The "Flex" version is a technically and economically efficient solution with individually selectable lighting and lenses, offering a viable solution for any type of application. However, it is the "Dynamic Focus" version that makes the LECTOR®65x a major innovation in the camera-based barcode reader market. This version can optimally adapt the focus position to the reading distance and object height in fractions of a second. This ensures the reader always obtains a sharp image of the code thanks to its consistently correct focus.
Both the “Flex” and “Dynamic Focus” versions of the LECTOR®65x feature image capture units with a resolution of two or four megapixels. The latter reliably identifies common 1D codes with 0.35 mm wide lines within a reading field of nearly 500 mm x 500 mm. Whether barcodes, Datamatrix, MaxiCode, or QR codes, its intelligent decoding algorithms ensure the reading and processing of low-contrast or even damaged codes. Setting up flexible and modular reading arches is made even easier with the “LECTOR®654 Dynamic Focus for Systems” variant. Multiple code readers can be connected with a single cable per device. Customers can expand the system camera by camera, optimally adapting it to the conveyor belt width and its corresponding field of view.
Integrating the LECTOR®65x barcode reader is very simple and requires no significant investment or training. The barcode readers feature serial, I/O, USB, CAN, and Ethernet, TCP/IP, and Ethernet/IP fieldbus interfaces, including function blocks. Additional fieldbuses, such as Profibus and Profinet, are available as connection modules. Function buttons and automatic configuration streamline installation, while an integrated laser simplifies alignment. Audible and visual cues during deployment facilitate device commissioning. The device also allows for the collection of images and scan data for evaluation and use in generating statistics and identifying trends.
The typical application for LECTOR®65x barcode readers is in automated sorting processes within intralogistics. Manual handling and sorting processes can also be partially automated with LECTOR®65x. It is in industrial automation where these readers demonstrate their full potential, for example, in tire identification or end-of-line packaging.
