The Vue Pro R retains all the features of the standard Vue Pro model and also captures radiometrically calibrated images, allowing it to record the temperature data of each pixel in an image. Once saved in FLIR's proprietary radiometric JPEG format, the still images can be imported into FLIR Tools software for detailed analysis and report generation. Using FLIR Tools, available as a free download from FLIR.com, drone operators can adjust parameters such as object emissivity, ambient temperature, distance to target, relative humidity, and thermal sensitivity, as well as assign various color palettes to each image.
The Vue Pro R records digital thermal video, along with radiometric thermal still images, to an onboard micro SD card. In applications such as electrical inspection, infrastructure assessment, and precision mapping, onboard recording allows operators to capture high-quality thermal data for further processing and analysis.
“Without a doubt, radiometry is the feature most requested by operators, and now we're offering it with Vue Pro R,” says Jeff Frank, senior vice president of product strategy at FLIR. “FLIR pioneered thermal imaging cameras and has over 50 years of experience in the industry. Now we're expanding high-performance capabilities like radiometry to drone navigation, another example of our ability to provide advanced thermal imaging technology to professionals who need it.”.
An updated mobile app with advanced radiometric features uses the camera's Bluetooth interface to connect to iOS and Android devices, simplifying camera setup and adjustment. Through the app, operators can configure settings to achieve the best possible image quality under given conditions without needing to connect the camera to a computer.
In May 2016, FLIR put the Vue Pro R on sale through its worldwide network of drone camera distributors.
