SafetyBridge allows the logic module to communicate with up to five additional modules, either eight-input or eight-output. The safety program logic resides in this logic module. The PLC simply copies the information from the input modules to the output modules and vice versa. This is accomplished using any fieldbus, and no complex changes to the PLC control program are required.
SafetyBridge technology is certified and approved for Profibus, Profinet, Interbus, and standard Ethernet. It is even possible to use wireless networks without compromising safety. In a single installation, for example, safe signals can be collected by one module connected to the PLC via Profinet, by another connected via Interbus, and then routed to the safe output module connected via a Profibus network.
The technology integrates seamlessly into the Inline system. No special installation guidelines are required for the SafetyBridge modules. The safety modules can be located in a decentralized manner and operate at any point on the network (fieldbus) within an Inline station.
No special bus couplers are required. The configuration of the safety function and the parameterization of the SafetyBridge safe modules are performed using the free SAFECONF software.
