DC meters, which enable accurate monitoring and billing at electric vehicle charging stations and battery energy storage systems, can also provide energy analysis functionalities for DC systems in microgrids and other energy-efficient applications.

Carlo Gavazzi's DCM1 DC energy meters with Ethernet are direct-connect devices for DC systems up to 1000 V and 600 A. The DCM1 energy meters display information about the specific charging session while receiving and processing session start/stop commands. The DC energy meters feature a transducer for voltage and current connection, as well as a display unit with RS485 Modbus RTU and Ethernet Modbus TCP communication ports. A cable connected to the transducer links the two components, enabling quick and easy installation. The DCM1 energy meters are installed on the DC side, are compatible with most DC chargers, and support both horizontal and vertical mounting. A cable loss management function ensures that the DC energy meters only consider the energy supplied to the vehicle and eliminate losses caused by cable resistance.

DCM1 DC meters provide automatic alerts in case of over-temperature, overcurrent, or overvoltage for safe and reliable performance. Secure, signed data transmission ensures data authenticity, and the display automatically updates to show relevant information about the charging session. DCM1 energy meters are designed to be tamper-proof with sealable measurement inputs and communication ports. The DCM1 series complies with CE, cURus, MID, LNE (pending), Eichrecht, and CTEP standards.
