The new SEW 4235 ER meter is a portable, autoranging, microprocessor-based instrument that measures earth resistance and resistivity using 4-wire, 3-wire, and 2-wire techniques. Full-scale measurements for earth resistance are 20, 200, and 2000 ohms, with a basic accuracy of 2%. Full-scale measurements for resistivity are 6, 28, 62.8, and 628 kOhms.
The measurements are taken by injecting a constant current of 820 Hz and 2 mA, and the distance between ground rods can be adjusted from 1 to 50 meters. It can also measure AC ground voltage up to 300 V.
The measurements are displayed on a two-line x 16-character LCD digital screen and up to 200 readings can be stored in non-volatile memory.
The equipment is lightweight (1.430Kg) and compact (250x190x110 mm.), powered by eight 1.5V AA type alkaline batteries.
