Aerotech's new VTS300 vertical displacement tables provide long-travel precision positioning in a compact vertical design for single Z-axis load capacities up to 450 kg; multiple synchronized units can also be combined to support heavy loads with 3-point kinematic mounting. Available in a range of four vertical travel options from 50 mm to 200 mm and with a mounting surface of less than 143 mm x 305 mm, the VTS300 series features a rigid, high-strength aluminum frame with sealed linear motion guide bearings that allow for heavy travel loads and provide straight, flat travel of excellent specifications. The extremely high load capacity is also attributed to a precision spindle that, while loaded, will not experience backlash when changing direction, ensuring total load stability.
It comes with an optional NEMA 23 or 34 motor mount and a high-capacity 90° gearbox. A choice of servo or stepper motor is also available, offering flexibility in terms of load, performance, and budget requirements. The VTS300 series features a nominal positioning resolution of 0.064 microns based on either a stepper or servo motor (both with a 10:1 gearbox). Other key specifications include bidirectional repeatability of +/- 10 microns and positional accuracy of +/- 25 microns.
The VTS300 includes a full table of 8 mm diameter threaded inserts, providing flexibility for load mounting. An optional alternative mounting bracket is available for applications where three VTS300 vertical tables are mounted to support extremely heavy loads with a 3-point kinematic mount. In this configuration, the tip-tilt of the load can be finely controlled throughout its range using Aerotech controls.
Other features include right- or left-side motor mounting for a compact installation, an integrated 24V brake, and various gearboxes to enable variable positioning resolutions. Like other Aerotech precision positioning mechanical products, the VTS300 series is available in 10⁻³ (raised) or 10⁻⁶ (raised) torr vacuum-compatible versions.
The new vertical tables are available individually or as a complete motion control system. They include a wide selection of custom-developed rotary and linear tables. Advanced motion commands ensure optimal performance with rapid setup, increased production capacity, and higher-quality finished parts. The range includes single- or multi-axis motion solutions. A full range of servomotors and stepper motor drives is available, and users can choose from RS-274 G code, AeroBasic, IEC61131-3, Microsoft .NET Framework, and LabVIEW programming options, among others, to guarantee varying levels of analytical and advanced software functionality.
