programmable-automation-controller-wThe Armor GuardLogix joins Rockwell Automation’s growing portfolio of on-machine solutions that move industrial controls and hardware closer to the application or directly onto the machine, minimizing the number of components in the control cabinet. This reduces wiring time and helps increase uptime, while maintenance and repair are accelerated with pre-configured quick-connect systems and simplified wiring designs.
The Armor GuardLogix is IP67, SIL 3, PL(e), and CAT 4 rated, with 4 MB of application code storage and two full-featured EtherNet/IP Device Level Ring (DLR) capable connections.
“With this controller, manufacturers can harness the power of our Integrated Information Architecture system in a simple-to-use controller,” said Geoff Sieron, product manager for GuardLogix controllers at Rockwell Automation. “Furthermore, as manufacturing control systems evolve, our customers are replacing older equipment with simplified alternatives. The quick-connect cable network greatly streamlines system wiring, making it easier to install, troubleshoot, and maintain. This can be especially important for machine and equipment manufacturers looking to improve time to market, testing, and commissioning.”
The Armor GuardLogix provides access to the controller mode switch, USB port, SD card slot, and power supply switch, along with 24V DC power to supply energy to other on-machine products. This feature allows power to be routed from one machine device or module to another, eliminating the need for a separate power supply for each device and simplifying the overall system architecture. Its innovative mounting tabs can be rotated vertically or horizontally, giving users complete flexibility to mount the product wherever and however they want. The controller is programmed in the Rockwell Software Studio 5000 design and engineering environment.
