Customers worldwide who previously expressed interest through the Red Pitaya website and have been eagerly awaiting product availability will be given priority when placing their orders with RS and Allied. They will receive a Red Pitaya plaque from the first limited edition. All other orders will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until stock is depleted, with wait times of up to twelve weeks for the next commercial production run.
Red Pitaya is an innovative test and measurement solution that offers a unique, compact, and low-cost ecosystem. It combines a Xilinx Zynq™-based hardware platform with a suite of open-source online applications, such as a waveform generator, oscilloscope, and spectrum analyzer.
Based on the GNU/Linux operating system, Red Pitaya can be programmed at different levels using a variety of software interfaces, including: HDL, C/C++, scripts and HTML-based web interfaces, which allow access to Red Pitaya functionality in most web browsers on smartphones, tablets and personal computers.
A standard set of open-source test and measurement applications is available in the open-access community library known as Bazaar Cloud Marketplace. In addition, the open-source Backyard repository comprises development tools and code that enable the engineering community to share and collaborate on new applications.
“Red Pitaya has generated tremendous excitement among engineers in the test and measurement industry,” commented Philip Dock, Global Head of Product and Supplier Management at RS. “No other instrumentation product on the market can offer this functionality and flexibility at a price that is affordable even for the tightest budget. We anticipate strong demand for this product and are therefore encouraging our customers to place their orders now to ensure prompt delivery.”
"When we launched the Red Pitaya project, our goal was to make technologies that were previously only available to industry and advanced research laboratories accessible to everyone. Today, we are delighted with the response we have received from users and the creativity of the ideas they have proposed. This is the true power of Red Pitaya," said Borut Baričevič, Co-founder and Product Manager of Red Pitaya.
