Developed by Opto 22, Groov is a web-based tool for building and visualizing operator interfaces, designed to monitor and control automation equipment and systems without requiring programming or coding. Groov allows access to system data from anywhere with an available network, as well as enabling users to receive real-time notifications based on configurable events. The Groov system is also secure, thanks to HTTPS encryption of all communications and the requirement to authenticate every connection with a username and password.
Developed as an Internet of Things (IoT) tool for Industry 4.0 and smart companies, the Groov Box is a hardware/software solution that eliminates the need for a PC in the field, making it ideal for deployment in manufacturing and automation facilities or remote sites with limited on-site infrastructure or IT equipment. The device features a robust, solid-state, fanless design that operates in temperatures ranging from 0 to 70°C, making it particularly suitable for deployment in harsh industrial environments. Despite its small size (106 x 171 x 33 mm), the Groov Box also offers Gigabit Ethernet interfaces and USB expansion for wireless LAN interfaces.
In addition to the Groov Box application, Groov is also available as downloadable software: Groov Server for Windows, a compact software ideal for PC-based IT infrastructures. The Groov system connects directly to Modbus/TCP devices and Opto 22 SNAP PAC controllers, as well as devices from other manufacturers, via an OPC-UA server, while enabling easy and straightforward monitoring and control of PLC and SCADA systems.
With its drag-and-drop interface, Groov only requires a browser like Google Chrome, Firefox, or Internet Explorer to build and view the interface on mobile devices. Groov software tools include: Groov Build, which provides a range of gadgets for developing the interface with the graphical display; Groov View, which runs the interface on a Groov Box or Groov Server and can be accessed via the Groov View app on an iOS or Android smartphone or tablet, or any other device such as PCs or TVs with a browser and a network connection to Groov; and finally, Groov Admin—included in the Groov Box—which provides the necessary tools to back up and restore projects, update software and firmware, and configure wired or wireless network systems.
