Lithium-sulfur batteries are batteries with lithium metal anodes and sulfur cathodes. They are characterized by their high gravimetric energy density, although their volumetric energy density is limited due to the large amount of sulfur required for the cathode. Lithium-sulfur batteries also stand out for their potential cost reduction due to the abundance of sulfur, as well as for their greater safety due to the non-reactivity of sulfur.
