Due to the proximity of humid air and chlorine, and/or exposure to variable outdoor weather conditions, wiring, circuit breakers, printed circuit boards, and other metallic electrical contacts are at increased risk of corrosion. Even indoor pool areas are at greater risk than most indoor environments due to the presence of high humidity and chlorine from water treatment chemicals. If electrical or electronic damage occurs, a visit from a qualified technician may be necessary to restore affected pumps, lights, or chlorine dispensers to working order.

Is it easy to prevent corrosion of swimming pool control panels?
In contrast to potential service interruptions and repair costs, installing a VpCI® emitter is extremely simple and cost-effective. Self-adhesive VpCI® emitters are easy to place inside a control panel and should be replaced routinely every six months to a year, depending on the corrosiveness of the environment and the air exchange rate in the compartment. VpCI® emitters release vapor-phase corrosion inhibitors that form a protective molecular layer on metal surfaces, inhibiting the corrosion reaction even in the presence of condensation and other corrosive elements.

VpCI® emitters are installed according to the compartment volume:
· VpCI®-101 Device: 1 ft³ (28 L)
· VpCI®-105: 5 cubic feet (0.14 m³)
· VpCI®-111: 11 cubic feet (0.31 m³)
A quick spray of ElectriCorr™ VpCI®-239 can also be useful for cleaning electrical contacts or printed circuit boards (PCBs) in general, and for reinforcing protection in a ventilated control system.
