In redundancy mode, each module can handle a load of up to 20 A, powered by two AC/DC connections, each rated at 20 A. In parallel mode, the module can deliver up to 40 A (60 A/5 s) in an ambient temperature range of -40°C to +70°C, cooled solely by convection. RD40 modules can be connected in parallel to achieve even higher currents. The maximum voltage drop across the module is only 140 mV, representing an efficiency of up to 99.5% and a typical power loss of 5 W. The module is designed for nominal inputs of 12 V, 24 V, and 48 V DC, with an output range of 9 V to 56 V DC, and has reverse output voltage immunity up to 63 V DC (peaking at 70 V).
The component is IEC/EN/UL/CSA 62368-1 certified for safety and complies with EN 61000-6-4 Class B emissions and EN 61000-6-2 immunity standards. No-load power consumption is less than 200 mW. Its wide operating temperature range, high reliability, and long service life of over 268,000 hours at 40°C make the RACPRO1-RD40 suitable for demanding industrial environments. The module is only 43 mm wide, requires no tools for mounting, and features push-in electrical connections at a 25° angle for easy installation. “Our RD40 plug-and-play redundancy module simplifies and reduces the cost of assembling redundant DIN rail power systems using RECOM AC/DC power supplies,” says Michael Peters, Business and Product Manager at RECOM. The RACPRO1-RD40 is manufactured in Europe and comes with a three-year warranty. Samples and OEM pricing can be requested from all authorized distributors or directly from RECOM.
