The Fluke VT02 Infrared Visual Thermometer bridges the gap between these two options, for situations where a single temperature reading isn't enough and a high-resolution thermal imaging camera is beyond your needs. This single device combines the information from a thermal imaging camera, the images from a digital camera, and the point-and-shoot convenience of an infrared thermometer.
Performing inspections for electrical, industrial, HVAC/R, and automotive applications is much faster with the VT02 than with an infrared thermometer, which would require multiple readings and manual recording of the results. The VT02 detects problems instantly by fusing thermal and real-world images. It can display and save images as full visual, full infrared, or in three fusion modes (25%, 50%, and 75%). Markers indicate hot and cold spots; red boxes represent hot areas and blue boxes represent cold areas. The temperature reading is provided at the center point. Images are stored on a micro-SD card, eliminating the need for manual recording of readings.
Designing and developing an instrument that is easier to manufacture than a traditional thermal imaging camera requires significant innovation. Using ultrathin pyroelectric technology, Fluke has discovered a way to overcome the limitations of this technology and create an assembly with the necessary density to generate an infrared heat map.
The VT02 operates with the simplicity of a free-flowing approach, broadening its user base from seasoned professionals to novices. This also expands the range of applications available to in-house employees and contractors. Images from the VT02 can be imported into the SmartView® analysis and reporting software, included with the VT02, to generate professional reports documenting detected problems or completed repairs, whether for administrative purposes or customer review.
