The Laboratory has just expanded its equipment for carrying out environmental tests, with a new dustproof chamber, which allows testing the enclosures of large and heavy industrial equipment against the penetration of solid bodies in them, according to the "IP" code system described in the UNE 20324 standard.
While AT4 Wireless already offered testing for all IP protection ratings, it now boasts one of Europe's largest chambers for IP5X and IP6X testing. The chamber supports up to 1,000 kg of weight and a test volume of 2.5 m x 2 m x 1.5 m.
IP rating tests, in addition to being mandatory according to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EEC, for electrical equipment are applicable, among others, to any element of outdoor installation or use such as sensors, meters, controllers, electrical cabinets, electric doors, photovoltaic panels or automotive components.
