logic-analyzer-wThe Keysight U4154B Logical Analysis System combines three modules to help memory design engineers accelerate power-up and debugging of DDR2/3/4 and LPDDR2/3/4 memory systems. The system provides reliable data capture, accurate triggering, and a comprehensive suite of validation and performance tools.

The Keysight U4154B logic analyzer is designed for engineers working on high-end digital designs, mobile phones, computers, DDR and LPDDR memory, and server applications. The U4154B combines an industry-leading 4 Gb/s state capture speed with the ability to reliably capture data at the industry's smallest eye apertures, as small as 100 ps per 100 mV. These capabilities allow engineers to measure the increasingly fast digital signals used in emerging technologies and confidently validate and debug their designs.

“The need for reliable measurements and analysis is becoming increasingly important, given the increasing speeds of DDR4 and LPDDR4 memory,” said Dave Cipriani, vice president and general manager of Keysight’s Oscilloscopes and Protocols Division. “The new U4154B logic analyzer helps our customers continue to innovate by providing visibility into their high-speed memory systems.”.

The new tool works through a 64-bit software application that allows users to take full advantage of all the memory installed in their 64-bit operating systems.

The Keysight U4154B is an AXIe-based logic analyzer module. Its associated probes and powerful analysis software provide essential capabilities for engineers working with DDR and LPDDR memory systems, application-specific high-speed embedded chips, analog-to-digital converters, and field-programmable gate arrays operating at speeds up to 4 Gb/s.

Time zoom provides simultaneous time and state measurements with a time resolution of 80 ps and a memory depth of 256 Ksample, giving designers a broader view of problems by enabling high-resolution, simultaneous state and time measurements within a 20-µs time interval. The industry's highest trigger sequencer speed (2.5 GHz) gives engineers the ability to reliably trigger on sequential events in high-speed signals without sacrificing trigger flexibility.

At high speeds, signal integrity validation is critical for reliable operation. Validating signal integrity across all channels of a DDR or LPDDR system using an oscilloscope can be very time-consuming. The U4154B's unique eye-tracking capability allows you to quickly gain a comprehensive view of signal integrity across all signals in a DDR or LPDDR system in a fraction of the time required by alternative methods.

The U4154B logic analyzer software and probes help engineers perform their tasks.

• The Keysight B4622B's DDR2/3/4 and LPDDR/2/3/4 protocol compliance and analysis toolkit automates measurements on bus traces to help engineers quickly identify protocol-related problem areas and gain an overview of system performance.
• Keysight and distributor FuturePlus Systems offer a wide range of probe solutions compatible with the U4154B, including DDR2/3/4 BGA interpositioners and probes, as well as Keysight soft-touch probes for midbus probeing.

The U4154B logic analyzer module is compatible with Keysight's two-slot M9502A and five-slot M9505A AXIe chassis. Multiple modular systems can be combined to perform time-correlated measurements on various buses within a system.
