Panasonic's LP-RV short-pulse fiber technology achieves a rapid pulse duration of just 1 ns. This minimizes the thermal effect on the workpiece, reducing unwanted effects such as discoloration, burning, or deformation. This setting is ideal for marking high-contrast characters on resin surfaces. Furthermore
, the pulse duration is also switchable in seven steps up to 200 ns (user-defined settings), enabling precise and permanent marking on metal parts. Thus, a single system achieves perfect, high-contrast marking on both metal and plastic parts.
The low heat generation during the marking process allows for marking characters in very fine line segments as small as 0.15 mm x 0.15 mm.
The LP-RV can also mark in high-speed applications, as it can generate a short-pulse laser beam with a high pulse repetition rate, even when scanning at higher speeds.
The three-unit configuration, where the laser head, laser oscillator, and controller are separable, allows for a rapid installation process. Unlike conventional laser markers, the LP-RV's highly compact laser head unit can be easily moved and mounted within the production equipment, while remaining separate from the controller. This makes the new laser marker highly flexible and also reduces downtime for maintenance. The main unit is also built without forced ventilation and has an IP64 rating, ensuring long-lasting, trouble-free operation even in dusty or oily environments.
The LP-RV controller features a power transformer and noise suppression components to provide high noise resistance, preventing any unexpected problems caused by sudden electrical noise and ensuring a smooth marking process.
Because the three-unit hardware configuration shortens the installation time of the Panasonic LP-RV, the intelligent NAVI software simplifies the configuration of marks such as characters, logos, or 2D code. The integrated intelligent condition adjustment function draws on our extensive knowledge of laser marking parameters, such as laser power, scan speed, and pulse oscillation frequency. By selecting one of 14 presets, the user can quickly test multiple settings for different workpieces, including iron, stainless steel, aluminum, and a wide variety of plastics.
When connected to a machine vision system, the LP-RV becomes a powerful automated laser marking solution. The LP-RV series can be directly connected to a machine vision system. This enables the execution of a range of operations, such as workpiece position detection, marking position correction, and cross-checking of scanned Data Matrix (DMC) marking code information, without requiring a PLC.
Furthermore, new EtherNet/IP and PROFINET network units are available to support PLC connection via these industrial networks. Installation of the additional network units is simple and can be performed at any time.
