This innovative solution supports multiple graphics I/O and outputs, including two TSN PHY-compatible GbE LAN ports, three independent 4K displays, two USB 3.1 Gen 2 (10Gbps) ports, and one SATA Gen3 port. With its increased processing capacity and diverse I/O, the SOM-2532 is an excellent choice for a variety of applications, such as industrial control, transportation, and medical.
The Advantech SOM-2532 is compliant with the SMARC 2.1 specification released in March 2020. The solution is based on the Intel® Elkhart Lake processor and incorporates up to 16GB of LPDDR4 3200Mt/s memory with IBECC (In-Band ICC). This Advantech model also features UFS 2.0, dual GbE LAN with TSN PHY, two CAN bus headers for increased data processing speed, and support for three independent displays up to 4K resolution. The new generation increases CPU performance by more than 40% and graphics performance by up to twice compared to its predecessor. The higher speed of the non-volatile memory compared to eMMC 5.1, as in the SOM-2532 with UFS 2.1, can increase sequential read speeds by 40% and sequential write speeds by 20%.
The SOM-2532 features USB 3.2 Gen2 (10GT/s) and PCIe Gen3 (8.0GT/s), both significantly faster than their predecessors. CAN-FD enables a maximum data transfer rate of 8Mbps, which is ten times faster than the payload transmission speed—crucial for data-intensive applications. Low latency and backward compatibility with classic CAN devices are also offered in many cases. The SOM-2532 enhances security through its larger maximum data capacity and the CAN-FD protocol. The SOM-2532 utilizes TSN PHY to improve device communication accuracy. This system improves data synchronization precision across the network and minimizes oscillations to reduce latency during real-time device communication. The SOM-2532's features make it an ideal solution for automation and transportation applications.
The SOM-2532 incorporates dual LAN to enhance cybersecurity in industrial automation. Users can connect multiple systems or schedule firmware updates via WISE-PaaS/OTA over an internal LAN to protect critical data. They can also establish external communication via a separate LAN under various operating conditions. The soldered LPDDR4 memory is designed to withstand vibrations, and the integrated UFS ensures product stability. Furthermore, the device's wide operating temperature range (-40 ~ 85 °C / -40 ~ 185 °F) enhances system reliability. Additionally, the SOM-2532 utilizes FUSA (Functional Safety) to minimize hazards caused by device malfunctions. These features make the SOM-2532 a safe choice for portable devices and industrial applications.
