The first product to be announced is the SBC624, a 6U OpenVPX single-board computer with a wide range of options, including a quad-core Intel Core i7 processor with speeds up to 2.1 GHz, ideal for applications such as signal processing in intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, radar, and sonar. 3U VPX single-board computers and the VME 6U CompactPCI® 6U will also be unveiled in the near future, along with a multiprocessor platform based on the latest Intel® processors.
The SBC624 complements and succeeds the SBC620 and SB622, based on the Intel® Core™ 2 Duo and Intel® Core™ i7 processors, respectively, and provides an optimal technology upgrade path for existing customers, in line with GE's long-term commitment to maximizing customer investment value. It delivers higher performance than its predecessors within the same powerful package, making it ideal for SWaP-constrained environments such as manned and unmanned vehicles. The inclusion of second-generation Intel Core i7 processors with their superior graphics and vector processing capabilities enables the SBC624 to handle millions of mil/aero applications beyond command and control, such as signal processing, ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance), and radar/sonar. The SBC624 is available in five manufacturing versions, including a fully rugged one, making it capable of providing a cost-effective solution in environments ranging from air-cooled to extremely harsh.
The SBC624 also benefits from Intel Core i7 processor compatibility with PCI Express® Gen 2 technology, featuring a full 16-lane version. This provides even greater bandwidth for on-board and off-board connectivity, enabling the high bandwidth demands of today's applications. In particular, this high-performance PCI Express interface makes the SBC624 an ideal host card for use with the GE CUDA GPGPU board, the NPN240. The SBC624's configuration flexibility is maximized through two PMC and two XMC slots, while I/O includes two 10 Gigabit Ethernet ports, four RS-232 ports, VGA, two DVI/HDMI ports, seven USB 2.0 ports, and two SATA interfaces. It supports a wide range of software, including the integrated AXIS Advanced Multiprocessor software, which shortens development times, reduces project costs, and accelerates time to market. Operating system support is available for Windows®, Linux®, and VxWorks®.
