The SAME70-XPLD microcontroller evaluation board can be used with a wide range of expansion boards that integrate with Atmel Studio, Atmel Software Framework (ASF) drivers and demo code, support data streaming, and more. Additionally, the SAME70-XPLD evaluation board supports Arduino for further expansion.
The kit is aimed at engineers upgrading/migrating from SAM4E microcontrollers, working on embedded designs for industrial, consumer, or PC peripheral applications, or those seeking a high-performance, general-purpose ARM Cortex-M7 MCU with increased memory integration and an integrated floating-point DSP, at speeds up to 300 MHz. Applications include lighting, industrial control, consumer electronics, PC peripherals, and robotics.
Each expansion board features standardized connectors and headers and includes an Atmel CryptoAuthentication™ ID chip for unique identification when connected to an Xplained MCU board. This information is used to present associated user guides, application notes, datasheets, and sample code through Atmel Studio, simplifying and enhancing the development experience.
All Xplained kits include an embedded debugger, eliminating the need for external tools to program or debug the target microcontroller.
This evaluation kit expands the range of solutions for element14 ARM Cortex-M devices requiring real-time digital signal processing or fast numerical computation. It leverages the Atmel Xplained ecosystem, which includes MCU evaluation boards, expansion boards integrated with Atmel Studio, Atmel Software Framework (ASF) drivers and sample code, data streaming support, and other features that facilitate comprehensive microcontroller evaluation.
Farnell element14 is also introducing the Atmel® SmartConnect WILC1000, an expansion board containing Atmel's ultra-low-power IoT module specifically optimized for low-power IoT applications. SmartConnect is a family of certified, low-power standalone modules that provide wireless internet connectivity. An IEEE 802.11 b/g/n IoT link controller SoC, the WILC1000 is the ideal complement to existing MCU solutions that offer Wi-Fi via UART or SPI/-SDIO interfaces. The WILC1000 connects to any Atmel AVR or SMART MCU with minimal resource requirements.
