Azure RTOS is integrated and available in version 3.0 of the Flexible Software Package (FSP) for Renesas RA Family MCUs, and in version 2.0 of the Synergy Software Package (SSP) for Synergy MCUs. Azure RTOS support for the Renesas RX Family is provided through the e2 studio integrated development environment.

Microsoft Azure RTOSincludes Azure RTOS ThreadX, an advanced real-time operating system designed for deeply embedded applications. Among its many advantages are real-time multithreading, cross-thread communication and synchronization, and memory management. Azure RTOS ThreadX offers advanced features, including picokernel architecture, preemption-threshold, event chaining, and a rich set of system services.

In addition to Azure RTOS ThreadX, AR, RX, and Synergy application designers will have access to the following middleware stacks:

Azure RTOS FileX high-performance file system, compatible with File Allocation Table (FAT);
Azure RTOS GUIX application design environment with integrated graphical user interface (GUI);
Azure RTOS TraceX Windows-based analytics tool;
Azure RTOS NetX Duo industrial-grade dual TCP/IP network stack; and
Azure RTOS USBX high-performance USB host stack and embedded stack.

Later in 2021, Renesas will launch cloud development platforms that will provide developers with a complete framework for securely connecting and leveraging the power of Azure IoT. These cloud platforms feature a wealth of out-of-the-box connectivity options, including Bluetooth®, cellular, ultra-wideband, and Wi-Fi 6/6e. These Azure-certified kits will be available through the Azure Device Catalog.
