With a fully shielded housing, integrated crystal oscillators, and a chip antenna, the PAN9420 module combines a high-performance CPU, high-sensitivity wireless radio, baseband processor, mid-access controller, encryption unit, patchable boot ROM, internal SRAM, and programmable flash memory. The integrated memory allows for storing web content such as HTML pages or image data. Parallel access point and infrastructure mode support enables easy configuration of simultaneous Wi-Fi connections from the PAN9420 to smart devices and home network routers. The pre-programmed Wi-Fi SoC firmware enables Ad-hoc mode applications (Wi-Fi Direct). In transparent mode, collected data can be sent from the UART to the air interface for smart devices, web servers, or PC applications.

A PAN9420 evaluation kit is also available, containing a motherboard with a PAN9420 subboard (PAN9420 FCC version module) that easily connects to any PC using the included USB cable. The motherboard comes with two USB-to-UART converters that enable hardware access to the UART module's two interfaces (command and binary). The PAN9420 FCC version module comes pre-loaded with firmware for IoT applications and sample Panasonic web content. After a few simple steps, the kit is ready to use.

The PAN9420 module is available in two versions: FCC/IC (P/N: ENW49C01A3KF) and CE RED (P/N: ENW49C02A3KF) pre-certified.
