The most demanding graphics and compute workloads benefit from the modules' 4 cores, 8 threads, and 8 GPU compute units, delivering the massive processing performance of AMD's Zen microarchitecture in an ultra-robust form. The TDP is scalable from 12W to 25W, enabling truly immersive 4K UHD system designs with only passive cooling. Typical applications for the new industrial-grade COM Express modules include rugged edge computing with embedded vision and artificial intelligence (AI), autonomous vehicles, rail machines and railcars, outdoor equipment in the oil and gas industries, mobile ambulances, broadcast vans, security and video surveillance, and 5G base station equipment, to name just a few.

The maximum performance of the new conga-TR4 COM Express Type 6 module depends on environmental conditions and is specified with a turbo boost of 1.6 GHz to 2.8 GHz in sub-zero temperatures, and 2.0 GHz to a maximum of 3.6 GHz in positive temperatures. The impressive performance of the ultra-rugged conga-TR4 COM (Computer-on-Modules) modules is delivered in a real-time capable design and also includes real-time hypervisor support from Real-Time Systems for virtual machine deployments and workload consolidation in edge computing scenarios.

The detailed feature set:
The new high-performance conga-TR4 module with COM Express Type 6 pinout is based on the latest AMD Ryzen Embedded V1404I multi-core processor for industrial-grade temperature ranges. It supports up to 32GB of energy-efficient, fast, dual-channel DDR4 memory with speeds up to 3200 MT/s and optional ECC for maximum data security. Integrated AMD Radeon Vega graphics with 8 compute units represent the cutting edge of embedded graphics. It supports up to four independent displays with UHD resolutions up to 4K and 10-bit HDR, as well as DirectX 12 and OpenGL 4.4 for 3D graphics. The integrated video engine enables hardware-accelerated transmission of HEVC (H.265) video in both directions. Thanks to support for HSA and OpenCL 2.0, deep learning workloads can be assigned to the GPU. In security-critical applications, the integrated AMD secure processor assists with hardware-accelerated RSA, SHA, and AES encryption and decryption.

The new conga-TR4 enables a full USB-C implementation on the motherboard, including USB 3.1 Gen 2 with 10 Gbps, Power Delivery, and DisplayPort 1.4, for example, to connect external touchscreens with a single cable. Other performance-oriented interfaces include one PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, four PCIe Gen 3 slots, four PCIe Gen 2 slots, three USB 3.1 Gen 2 slots, one USB 3.1 Gen 1 slot, eight USB 2.0 slots, two SATA Gen 3 slots, and one Gigabit Ethernet port. I/O for SD, SPI, LPC, I²C, and two legacy CPU UARTs, along with high-definition audio, completes the interface lineup. Supported operating systems include Linux, Yocto 2.0, and Microsoft Windows 10, with Windows 7 optionally also available.
