The automotive market is rapidly advancing to make autonomous driving a reality for consumers by 2020. The increasing volume of sensor data, along with its evaluation and the resulting actions, requires high-performance hardware and software implementations that meet the highest safety standards. Furthermore, the wide range of sensors and functions presents new challenges for software implementation and integration.
The newly launched HADP is the first result of the collaboration between TTTech and Renesas announced in January 2016, and is an extended version of the HAD solutions kit launched in October 2016. It is based on the dual system of the R-Car H3 SoC and the RH850/P1H-C microcontroller.
The HADP was developed based on the ASIL-D functional safety concept. It supports a highly efficient integration process for complex, highly automated driving systems. The HADP can be used by Tier 1 suppliers and OEMs to immediately prototype its functions in an integrated automotive ECU. It shortens time to market by allowing system developers to easily verify and integrate software into the prototype ECU, designed to provide a faster path to mass-production vehicles.
Main features of HADP:
1) ECU prototype for accelerating mass production
The ECU has been developed to automotive-grade quality, meeting stringent thermal design and impact resistance requirements. It is supplied in an aluminum housing rated for IP51 protection, suitable for mounting in the passenger compartment or trunk. The HADP can be directly connected to an automotive power supply and is designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to +85°C and withstand vibrations in a running vehicle. The HADP comes with wiring and instructions for easy installation within a vehicle.
2) Shorter time to market through the introduction of a software platform for simplified integration
TTIntegration is a software platform that provides all the services needed to run multiple security-critical applications in parallel across multiple SoCs. A sophisticated partitioning concept ensures that security-related applications cannot be affected by other applications running concurrently.
Thanks to a standard PC co-simulation environment, it's possible to develop functions on the HADP embedded platform alongside applications running on a PC. They can all share the same data and services as if they were a single-domain ECU.
Seamless integration and testing of all applications are noticeably faster and more efficient compared to typical step-by-step solutions.
Availability
The HADP and development support are scheduled to be available in the second quarter of 2017 by TTTech.
