This is Ingeocean, an advanced software tool that integrates historical environmental databases and allows the analysis of different action scenarios to facilitate decision-making during the construction, operation, and maintenance of offshore wind farms.

With the aim of improving decision-making before and during the installation and operation of these platforms, Ingeteam, together with the Environmental Hydraulics Institute of the University of Cantabria (IHCantabria), has developed Ingeocean, an advanced tool aimed at analyzing the variables and influencing factors, to support the parties involved (investors, developers, builders, supply chain, etc.) by answering questions such as: what type of offshore wind project to undertake?, where to locate it? and with what characteristics to carry it out?

This tool analyzes, on the one hand, the common failures that occur in wind turbines during operation, and on the other hand, a series of meteorological and environmental factors such as waves, currents, and wind, as well as the behavior at sea of the system formed by the auxiliary vessels and the structures that make up a wind farm, during personnel transfers between them. Thanks to indicators such as average repair and waiting times, in addition to other dynamics specific to the offshore environment, such as navigability to the wind farm, it is possible to statistically analyze different technical O&M alternatives for a wide variety of possible operational scenarios. This facilitates decision-making in the preliminary phases of offshore wind farm project development, as well as during its construction, operation, and maintenance.
