“In recent years, we have invested increasingly in the development of MERLIC, especially in PLC interfaces and features to improve process stability. This has allowed us to position MERLIC as a machine vision framework that goes beyond simple machine vision software. We continue to advance in this direction with the new version. One example of this is the Frontend Observability feature. With it, we support users in creating audit trails,” explains Ulf Schulmeyer, MERLIC Product Manager at MVTec.

Specifically, this feature ensures the traceability of changes made to the machine vision system and its documentation. In addition to other new features and technological improvements, such as deep learning-based 2D code reading, the new version also changes the MERLIC versioning system. It aligns with MVTec's standard naming convention, so the new version number is MERLIC 26.03. Furthermore, the licensing and pricing model has been simplified.

In the future, there will be two editions: "MERLIC" and "MERLIC Professional." The editions differ in that MERLIC Professional includes all the features of MERLIC, including Deep Learning tools and the integration of custom tools. One advantage for users of both editions is the removal of the previous camera limit. Starting with version 26.03, users will be able to connect an unlimited number of cameras to their systems—within technically feasible limits—further enhancing MERLIC's flexibility and scalability.
