At the core of SYSGO's offering are PikeOS, the company's real-time operating system and hypervisor, and ELinOS, its embedded Linux platform. Together, these technologies provide a robust foundation for mixed-criticality aerospace systems that require the highest levels of safety, cybersecurity, modularity, and long-term maintainability.
SAETA II represents a new generation of training capabilities designed to evolve alongside future operational requirements. SYSGO technologies support this vision through:
Sovereign operating system technologies developed in Europe.
Prepared for certification at the highest levels of aerospace safety and cybersecurity (DAL A/SAL 3).
Flexible partitioning of mixed criticality through a separation kernel architecture.
Compliance with key industry standards, including ARINC 653.
Efficient support for demanding size, weight, and power consumption (SWaP) requirements.
A stable software base that enables progressive system evolution and expansion.
Proven status as an Airbus Approved Commercial Software Standard (COTS) Vendor.
PikeOS is particularly well-suited for aerospace programs that require the consolidation of critical and general-purpose applications on shared computing platforms, reducing hardware complexity while maintaining strict isolation and deterministic behavior.
Onboard and off-aircraft support equipment: PikeOS is ideally suited for onboard avionics equipment such as primary flight displays and associated ground station visualization, thanks to its support for ARINC 653 partitioning and deterministic planning. This allows critical visualization software, sensor fusion, and pilot interaction functions to operate independently without interference. This isolation is essential in cockpit display systems, where graphics processing, navigation data, and aircraft status monitoring must remain reliable and certifiable under stringent aviation safety requirements. SYSGO also has a robust ecosystem of technology partners in graphics solutions, such as PACE, a European-owned company.
Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) systems: In IFF systems, PikeOS provides secure partitioning and controlled communication between partitions, helping to isolate classified identification logic from less mission-critical software. Its kernel separation architecture and robust resource partitioning enhance cybersecurity and fault containment, critical aspects in embedded military systems that manage encrypted identification data and tactical exchange. PikeOS has also earned several cybersecurity certifications in the past.
Mission computers: PikeOS is highly applicable to mission computers, as it allows the execution of multiple avionics applications with varying levels of criticality on a shared platform. Functions such as sensor processing, navigation, and mission planning can be run in isolated partitions while efficiently sharing hardware resources, in line with modern IMA-based aeronautical systems. With the advent of embedded computers with artificial intelligence capabilities, PikeOS can support hardware-accelerated functions to enable faster and more accurate processing of sensor data, facilitating real-time flight plan modifications.
Data Links: In onboard data link systems, PikeOS supports deterministic communications and messaging between ARINC 653 partitions using queuing and sampling ports. This enables the reliable transfer of tactical, telemetry, and mission data between avionics subsystems, maintaining time guarantees and isolation between communication stacks and critical flight functions.
Audio Communications Management: PikeOS is well-suited for audio communications management systems because it can prioritize audio processing tasks in real time, isolating them from non-critical applications. Its deterministic scheduling and system health monitoring mechanisms help ensure uninterrupted voice communications between crew, air traffic control, and mission operators, even under high system load. Furthermore, PikeOS can be used for software-defined radio (SDR) implementations, enabling a reduction in SWaP compared to traditional federated architectures.
Remote Interface Units: Remote interface units benefit from PikeOS's ability to host multiple communication protocols and hardware interfaces within isolated partitions. This enables the secure aggregation of sensor inputs, actuator control, and avionics bus communications, minimizing the risk of failures in one interface affecting the rest of the aircraft system.
Mission loggers: PikeOS is well-suited for mission logger systems thanks to its support for reliable data logging, file system services, and partitioned storage management. Mission data, telemetry, audio, and operational events can be captured securely and in isolation, improving post-mission analysis, maintenance diagnostics, and certification compliance.
