Cambridge GaN Devices (CGD) today revealed further details on a solution that will enable the company to address electric vehicle powertrain applications exceeding 100 kW—a market valued at over $10 billion—with its gallium nitride (GaN) ICeGaN® technology. Combo ICeGaN® combines intelligent ICeGaN HEMT and IGBT (insulated-gate bipolar transistor) integrated circuits in the same module, or IPM, maximizing efficiency and offering a cost-effective alternative to expensive silicon carbide (SiC) solutions.

Research engineers at Saarland University and medical researchers at Saarland University Medical Center are developing smart implants that can both monitor and promote the healing of fractured bones. When placed at the fracture site, these implants, which are made of shape-memory alloys, can continuously harden or relax in a controlled manner to optimize bone healing.
