Lead-Acid batteries are a mixture of sulfuric acid and demineralized water. They consist of two lead plates immersed in a sulfuric acid bath, without contact between them, but a direct current must flow between the plates, giving a voltage of 2.5V/cell. The voltages of the cells are added together to achieve the nominal voltage of the battery, which is usually between 6V and 48V DC.
