Schneider Electric believes that electricity is the only energy source that offers the fastest decarbonization vector through a combination of renewables and software-based solutions. Two-way smart grids—or grids of the future—are the only way to make the energy transition possible and help the world halve its emissions by 2030, avoiding the emission of 10 gigatons of CO2per year and limiting the temperature increase to a maximum of 1.5°C. Grids of the future make this possible by enabling diverse sources of decentralized, locally generated renewable energy to combine security, reliability, resilience, and efficiency, while reducing losses caused by energy transmission and distribution.
