AIMPLAS laboratories already achieved a significant expansion of their accreditation scope in 2017, when they received ENAC accreditation for biodegradation testing in compost and soil, as well as disintegration testing. This positioned the technology center at the forefront of Europe in accredited testing for plastic materials.
TÜV AUSTRIA's (formerly Vinçotte) environmental product verification marks offer a customized certification label for each biodegradation environment and are widely recognized internationally by the end consumer, who appreciates the clarity and identifies as certified any product that incorporates these seals.
Thus, packaging or products bearing the OK Compost INDUSTRIAL label guarantee that all their components, inks, and additives are biodegradable in an industrial composting facility. The OK Compost HOME certification guarantees biodegradability in home composting, at a lower temperature than industrial composting, while the OK Biodegradable SOIL label guarantees that a product is biodegradable in soil. The Seedling logo, authorized by European Bioplastics, identifies products that comply with the EN 13432 standard as compostable. Obtaining these labels includes ecotoxicity testing to assess the quality of the compost and ensure there are no adverse effects on the environment.
TÜV AUSTRIA, an independent certification body in the bioplastics market, has recognized the laboratories of AIMPLAS, the Technological Institute of Plastics, which will allow companies to obtain the OK Compost INDUSTRIAL, OK Compost HOME, OK BIODEGRADABLE SOIL and SEEDLING labels through their tests
