With the acquisition of Madrid-based Next Limit Dynamics, Dassault Systèmes enhances its expertise in industrial solutions for multiphysics simulations on the 3DEXPERIENCE platform and strengthens its presence in the strategic computational fluid dynamics (CFD) market. Next Limit Dynamics' software solutions are used by simulation analysts for robust and accurate simulations of highly dynamic fluid flows to solve challenging CFD problems faster than with traditional methods. Its clients include Airbus, AISIN AW, Caterpillar, Doosan, Ford, Google X, Honda, Mitsubishi, NASA, Safran Helicopter Engines, and Toyota.

“Simulation allows innovators to drive the evolution of engineering materials, additive manufacturing, the internet of experiences, and other factors that contribute to harmonizing product, nature, and life,” says Bernard Charlès, Vice Chairman and CEO of Dassault Systèmes. “Next Limit Dynamics is a young and dynamic company whose highly experienced research and development team, along with a cutting-edge CFD methodology integrated into a multiphysics, multiscale 3DEXPERIENCE platform, is a transformative force in the innovation process.”.

Realistic simulation—from initial concept to final validation—is a mandatory discipline for the successful creation of sustainable consumer experiences. Next Limit Dynamics' technology is used to predict and improve the performance of complex designs when exposed to fluid flow, such as aerodynamic flow from a car, aerodynamic noise from an aircraft's landing gear, and the lubrication of complex drivetrains. This methodology can help improve fuel economy in cars and reduce emissions, decrease aircraft noise, and increase the efficiency of wind turbines for power generation.

“For nearly a decade, we have been developing our Lattice Boltzmann simulation technology, XFlow, to extend the utility of CFD across multiple industries for complex applications,” says David Holma, Managing Director of Next Limit Dynamics. “Today’s products are becoming more sophisticated, making engineering problems increasingly complex. Our disruptive approach eliminates the time-consuming preparation work required by traditional CFD methods. This allows engineers to focus more on evaluating and optimizing designs. As an integrated part of Dassault Systèmes, our technology is better positioned to manage this complexity and support the work of engineers using the 3DEXPERIENCE platform.”
