This second challenge is a continuation of Mouser and Imahara's journey with the engineering community within the Empower Innovation Together™ initiative, in which engineers can connect with Grant Imahara through various topics and challenges that question and challenge innovation in the search for new ideas.
The Empowering Innovation Challenge is the second in a series of challenges covering various engineering topics. This time, Grant is asking engineers to solve a problem using his robot, known as "The Spider." The challenge is to creatively describe what can be connected to or added to Grant's existing Spider-Bot to improve it, and what specific problem it could solve. Once submitted through Mouser.com, participants are encouraged to share their ideas with friends on social media to help them gain votes. To vote, simply go to the Empowering Innovation Challenge website, click and review the list of ideas, and choose the ones you think deserve the most recognition. It's as easy as entering your email address and clicking the vote button. The three ideas with the most votes will win a prize. With less than a month to go, the race is on for the engineering community to share their ideas online, let the public vote, and let genius win.
The first 200 participants in this robotics challenge will receive a T-shirt with the words “Letting My Genius Prevail™”. Grant, well known to many thanks to the TV series MythBusters, will select the Grand Prize winner, who will also receive memorabilia signed by Grant.
Grant has been passionate about robotics for over 20 years, as evidenced by his Spider-Bot design. Now he's looking for engineers of all levels to collaborate with him to help him solve real-world problems using "The Spider," and he encourages everyone to connect, share their ideas, and invite their friends to do the same.
“This challenge, similar to the Robotics Challenge, is a great opportunity for engineers to showcase their genius and have bragging rights… again,” said Grant Imahara. “With so many great ideas emerging from the first Robotics Challenge, I’m eager to see what the engineering community has in store for my Spider-Bot this time.”.
The Robotics Empowering Innovation Challenge is just another way to connect Mouser with engineers through the innovation and creativity that define engineering design.
“We are thrilled to be working with Grant on the Empowering Innovation Together campaign,” said Glenn Smith, President and CEO of Mouser. “It’s a fantastic collaboration because Mouser provides the latest products and technologies, while Grant brings the inspiration and engineering expertise; it’s a perfect match, and so far the response has been phenomenal.”.
The Empowering Innovation Together campaign is sponsored by Platinum Program Partner Texas Instruments. Molex and Panasonic are also participating as Diamond-Level Partners.
