As a first step, ROHM will provide its 2-in-1 silicon carbide (SiC) molded module TRCDRIVE pack™ to Valeo for future powertrain solutions.

Valeo is expanding access to efficient, electrified mobility across various vehicle types and markets, from the smallest (electric bicycles) to the most common (passenger cars) and the largest (electric trucks). By combining Valeo's expertise in mechatronics, thermal management, and software development with ROHM's power modules, Valeo is driving power electronics solutions, contributing to improved performance, efficiency, and decarbonization of automotive systems worldwide.

Valeo and ROHM have been collaborating since 2022, initially focusing on technical exchanges aimed at improving the performance and efficiency of the motor inverter, a key component in the propulsion systems of electric vehicles (EVs) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEVs). By refining the power electronics, both companies aim to deliver an optimized cost/performance ratio, providing greater energy efficiency, reducing heat generation through optimized cooling and mechatronic integration, and increasing overall reliability with a SiC encapsulation.

“This partnership represents a significant step forward for Valeo Power Division in the supply of advanced, high-efficiency power electronics,” said Xavier Dupont, Valeo Power Division CEO. “Together, we aim to set new industry standards for high-voltage inverters and accelerate the transition to more efficient and affordable electric mobility.”.

“We are very pleased to support Valeo, a renowned automotive supplier, with our power semiconductors. ROHM’s TRCDRIVE pack™ provides high power density, which translates into greater energy efficiency. Together, we are contributing to the development of highly efficient powertrains by fostering collaboration with Valeo,” says Wolfram Harnock, President of ROHM Semiconductor GmbH.

All these developments are essential to support the growing demand for greater autonomy, faster charging capabilities, and, in general, the creation of high-performance and affordable inverters for BEVs and PHEVs.

Valeo will begin supplying a first series project in early 2026. Valeo and ROHM will contribute to improving the efficiency and reducing the size of Valeo's next generation of xEV inverters.
