Capacitive touchscreens offer numerous advantages over traditional resistive touchscreens, such as improved optical transparency, lower power consumption, and greater reliability and durability. However, capacitive touchscreens have traditionally been more expensive, which has prevented their use in many low-cost phones. The launch of Cypress's single-layer sensors and corresponding TrueTouch controllers has changed this. Cypress has significantly reduced the cost of capacitive touchscreens while offering the same functionality and user experience as dual-layer displays. Cypress's solution allows capacitive touchscreens to replace resistive touchscreens on a large scale in many cost-sensitive applications.
