Mersen is expanding its HelioProtection product range dedicated to the photovoltaic market, with a security system for photovoltaic installations.
The system includes the HUBER+SUHNER modular junction box. It consists of the RADOX® SolarBox HM0 base and a dedicated "Bluebox" application. Mersen's GreenEye electronics are integrated into the "Bluebox." GreenEye is equipped with a safety switch and power line communication, enabling the collection of data on the voltage, current, and temperature of the connected solar module. Thanks to excellent heat dissipation and patented thermal isolation of the module, the "Bluebox" ensures reliable operation throughout the service life of the electronic components. It also meets Class II requirements and IP67 protection rating. With a maximum system voltage of 1000 V and a current of up to 12.5 A, the junction box meets all requirements related to photovoltaic installations.
Focused on market needs,
the intelligent junction box reduces the risk of fire in photovoltaic installations. Mersen's photovoltaic installation safety system detects DC arcing at weak contacts and faulty insulation in the system modules or wiring. If an electrical arc is detected, the integrated power switch automatically shuts down the various modules, thus preventing potential damage. This addresses future safety requirements for buildings, sensitive installations, and rooftop applications, which will come into effect in different countries in the coming years. Furthermore, the current, voltage, and temperature of the solar module can be monitored. This means that the performance of the photovoltaic system can be constantly monitored and optimized as needed.
