“Automation and control components are not just something Digi-Key offers in its broad product portfolio, but also something we use every day to ensure orders are fulfilled quickly, safely, and efficiently,”said Eric Wendt, director of automation at Digi-Key. “Automation and control is a rapidly growing market that is essential to ensuring global supply chains continue to operate smoothly through ups and downs, so we are excited to share more about Digi-Key’s use of this technology in this video series.”
The first video in the series, "Fully Integrated Automation," features conversations with Siemens leaders about the core components of the TIA (Fully Integrated Automation) portal, now available to Digi-Key customers.
The next episode, "Robotics and Machinery," offers a glimpse into how Digi-Key is using new robotics technology from Omron, and others, to automate tasks across its warehouse. This video will premiere in early April.
In late April, the third episode, "Inventory Management and Sorting," focuses on Siemens products empowering management at Digi-Key's new hub—an automation solutions center handling one of the industry's largest catalogs.
The fourth and final video in the series, "Efficiency and Worker Safety," will be released in May. It will highlight the many ways Omron automation solutions streamline routine tasks while maintaining worker safety.
“Automation has a long and storied history, paving the way for improved productivity, increased flexibility, and reduced liability on the factory floor,” said Mark Binder, channel director at Omron. “As innovation continues to drive manufacturers to automate more processes, it’s critical to have the right partner to deliver integrated, intelligent, and interactive solutions. As a leader in automation technology, with solutions that span the entire production process, Omron remains committed to empowering system integrators and machine builders to respond to evolving demands and, in turn, ensure operational excellence.”
“The future of industry is already here,” said Kurt Covine, director of partner sales at Siemens Digital Industries. “The digitization of production follows automation. Digitization promises significant competitive advantages for businesses, such as greater flexibility, minimal downtime, and higher quality. Our resources are finite, and we all need to do more with less. The partnership with Digi-Key gives our customers access to the latest Siemens automation solutions to meet this challenge and deliver on the promise of digitization.”
