The PI33XX products are designed to convert 8V to 36V inputs on high current, low voltage rails at the point of load, such as 3.3V, 2.5V, 1.8V, and 1V, and provide best-in-class performance with advanced power management features.
The integration of a high-performance Zero-Voltage Switching (ZVS) topology in the PI33XX series of Cool-Power ZVS buck regulators improves point-of-load performance and delivers best-in-class power efficiency across a wide Vin operating range. The ZVS topology enables high power density and high-frequency operation, maximizing efficiency by minimizing the switching losses inherent in conventional hard-switching buck regulators. The PI33XX series can provide high-performance conversions with high transformation factors up to a nominal input voltage of 36V, allowing system designers to implement more efficient power distribution structures based on a higher input voltage source.
All products in the PI33XX series are highly integrated, featuring control circuitry, power semiconductors, and support components in a high-density 10mm x 14mm x 2.56mm LGA SiP (System in Package). Power delivery can be further increased by inserting multiple ZVS Cool-Power buck regulators, which share current via a single wire without the need for additional components. ZVS Cool-Power buck regulators require only an external inductor and a minimal number of ceramic capacitors for input and output filtering to create a complete, high-performance regulator. No frequency compensation, parameter adjustments, or external components are required.
For designers tackling complex distributed power structures, ZVS Cool-Power buck regulators are the only buck regulators in their class to offer optional enhanced I²C fault telemetry capabilities, enabling six types of fault reports. Other programmable I²C ™ functions include margins, pin logic polarity activation , and phase delay. Device programming is easily accomplished using the Cool-Power Development Tool.
