In the retail and service industries (self-service kiosks), equipment using a single AC plug is popular for ease of installation. These applications require not only multiple voltages but also low ground leakage current. Multiple voltages are used to power the internal peripherals of the self-service kiosks (coin dispensing motors, touchscreen interface, audio systems, etc.). For low ground leakage current, safety regulations require it to be less than 500 µA for directly connected equipment to ensure a reliable ground connection for enhanced safety. The different voltages and low ground leakage current present a constraint when designing these self-service kiosks, as using multiple power supplies to power the peripherals would increase the total ground leakage current.

The NMP-650/1K2 and UMP modular power supplies from MEAN WELL, offered by Electrónica OLFER, provide solutions for these applications. These devices supply multiple voltages in a single unit and have a ground leakage current of less than 400µA (maximum). These modular power supplies simplify the installation process. Furthermore, both series are certified for Audio/Video and ITE 62368 to facilitate mandatory safety certifications for self-service kiosks.
The NMP-650/1K2 series is also an ideal solution for direct-connect medical equipment and applications.
