The new ATS 16 and ATS 30 provide enhanced operational security by enabling power to be supplied from two independent sources to equipment with only a single power input. This allows customers to ensure business continuity, resilience, and runtime, even if one of the power sources fails.

“In today’s IT environments, where downtime and service interruptions can be very costly and disruptive, a redundant dual power source is highly desirable,” said Julien Salinas, product manager at Eaton. “However, only servers and networking products have built-in provisions to operate from two power sources. Therefore, we developed our new transfer switches to specifically provide a simple and convenient solution to this problem. The switches are compact, affordable, easy to install, and can be used with any sine wave power source.”.

Both new products occupy only 1U of rack space and provide switching between power sources. The ATS 16 has a power rating of 16A and features two IEC C20 connectors for power inputs and eight IEC C13 connectors, plus one IEC C19 connector, for power outputs to support various equipment. It includes, as standard, an LCD that provides measurement and basic configuration capabilities.

On the other hand, the ATS 30 is the only 30A transfer switch on the market and uses wired connections for input and output. It also includes comprehensive networking capabilities, available as an option on the ATS 16, and network connectivity that allows users to access, configure, and manage the units from remote locations.

The ATS 30 can also be combined with the third generation of rack power distribution units (ePDU® G3) to distribute power among multiple devices. This can be monitored via Eaton Intelligent Power® Manager software, providing end users with an integrated power management system ready for virtualization.
