The GORE® PolyVent Ex+ ventilation element has obtained IECEx and ATEX Ex II 2G Ex eb IIC Gb and Ex II 2D Ex tb IIIC Db approvals. The IECEx and ATEX directives describe the general requirements for equipment, components, and devices used in potentially explosive atmospheres. Therefore, the PolyVent Ex+ ventilation element can be used in areas with potentially explosive atmospheres containing combustible gases or dusts as follows:
• Gas: any non-mining aboveground application (Group 2 equipment) in Zones 1 and 2 requiring Type eb protection (enhanced safety) for Equipment Category 2 Gb.
• Dust: any non-mining aboveground application (Group 2 equipment) in Zones 21 and 22 requiring Type tb protection (standard enclosure protection) for Equipment Category 2 Db.

Thanks to its design, the GORE® PolyVent Ex+ vent offers:
• Seamless performance. All materials selected for the GORE® PolyVent Ex+ design have been chosen to ensure the vent's exceptional durability and longevity in the workplace. Only premium-grade, non-flammable 1.4404 (316L) stainless steel is used for the vent body and cover, as well as for Gore's innovative, patented sealing membrane.
The 100% ePTFE GORE™balances pressure while achieving the highest flammability rating in its class (UL 94 V™-0). The UL 94 V™-0 rated silicone O-ring adds another layer of safety.
• High IP rating with high airflow. The GORE™ provides long-lasting protection against oil and water. With an air flow rate of 1,600 ml/min at 70 mbar and an IP protection rating of IP68/IP69k, the PolyVent Ex+ ventilation element effectively protects housings up to 20 l over a wide temperature range.
