The FT900 has been developed for high-speed, computationally intensive tasks. It can be used in conjunction with the award-winning FT800 EVE (embedded video engine) chip or as a standalone microcontroller. Operating at clock speeds up to 100 MHz with no wait states, it provides the processing power necessary to significantly impact IP video development, surveillance, high-quality audio, industrial inspection, and access control intercom systems.
 
The FT900 incorporates numerous features and connectivity options, including 256 KB of program memory and 64 KB of data memory, USB 2.0 capability at 480 Mbps, and a VGA (640x480 pixel) video camera interface. Its proprietary FT32 processor core operates at 2.93 DMIPs/MHz, and thanks to its stateless program memory, it delivers throughput of 281 DMIPs. The FT900 microcontroller's unique data streaming domain eliminates the need for complex direct memory access (DMA) for internal data transfer.
 
The FT900 also incorporates 10/100 Ethernet support with an integrated physical layer and CAN bus support, as well as numerous D/A and A/D converters, including a 10-bit, 1MHz D/A converter and a
7-channel, 10-bit, 1M samples/s multiplexed A/D converter. System interfaces include I2C slave and master, I2S for external audio, SPI slave and master, an SD card (2.0) interface, and various PWM outputs for standard and audio support.
