Microchip expandsThese devices also include USB On-the-Go (OTG) functions, making them ideal for developing audio accessories and other applications in the consumer, industrial, medical, and automotive markets.

The PIC32 MX1 and MX2 microcontrollers can operate at temperatures up to 105°C and include up to 128 KB of Flash and 32 KB of RAM, two I2S interfaces for audio processing, an integrated hardware peripheral for adding mTouch™ capacitive touch buttons or advanced sensors, and an 8-bit PMP (Parallel Master Port) interface for graphics or external memory. They also feature a 13-channel, 10-bit, 1 Msps A/D converter and serial communication peripherals, while the PIC32 MX2 adds USB OTG. These microcontrollers are available in 28- to 44-pin packages with dimensions starting at 5 mm x 5 mm and a 0.5 mm pitch. To simplify the design process, Microchip's Peripheral Pin Select feature allows developers to reconfigure most of the chip's digital function pins, significantly simplifying layout and design modifications. The PIC32 MX1 and MX2 are backward compatible with Microchip's 16-bit PIC24F product line for easy migration and are supported by the MPLAB® X IDE, a single development environment for all Microchip 8-, 16-, and 32-bit microcontrollers.

The new PIC32 family offers users more options for seamless migration of constantly evolving designs thanks to its 128K of Flash, 32K of RAM, and the highest DMIPS per MHz 32-bit microcontroller, along with small packages starting at 28 pins. These features also allow designers to differentiate their products in the market while maintaining small size and low cost.

The PIC32 MX1 and MX2 are supplied in 28-pin SOIC, SPDIP and SSOP packages, 36-pin VTLA packages, and 44-pin QFN, TQFP and VTLA packages.
