The new series has been designed to offer more competitive options in applications such as small appliances, battery management systems, small-screen devices, portable consumer products, industrial auxiliary controls, and automotive aftermarket systems.
GigaDevice's newly launched GD32C231 series overcomes the performance limitations of traditional entry-level chips through an innovative design and integrates a rich set of peripherals. The
GD32C231 series MCUs offer a significant improvement in computing performance and peripheral features while maintaining excellent price competitiveness, ushering in a new era of affordable, high-specification solutions. Based on Arm's Cortex®-M23 core architecture, the series delivers up to 10% higher performance than Cortex®-M0+, with clock speeds up to 48 MHz and efficient processing capabilities such as integer division.
Regarding memory configuration, the series incorporates 32 KB to 64 KB of high-reliability embedded Flash and 12 KB of low-power SRAM, with ECC error correction in all memory areas. To meet the demands of various applications, several package options are available, including TSSOP20/LGA20, QFN28, LQFP32/QFN32, and LQFP48/QFN48.

The GD32C231 series offers exceptional power flexibility and efficiency, supporting a wide voltage range of 1.8 V to 5.5 V and a wide temperature range of -40 °C to 105 °C. This makes it highly adaptable for deployment in harsh and demanding environments. With multiple power management modes, the device consumes as little as 5 μA in deep-sleep mode and 2.58 μA in standby mode, along with an ultra-fast wake-up time of 2.6 μs, achieving an optimal balance between low power consumption and real-time performance—ideal for battery-powered applications and portable devices.
Designed for high reliability, the GD32C231 provides ESD protection, meeting 8 kV contact and 15 kV air discharge standards. Full ECC error correction is applied to the Flash and SRAM memory, helping to prevent data corruption. An integrated hardware CRC module further enhances data transmission integrity. These features ensure reliability in safety-critical environments, such as automotive applications.
The GD32C231 series integrates a comprehensive set of peripherals, significantly improving system integration and design flexibility:
• A 12-bit ADC with 13 external channels and 2 internal comparators for precise analog signal measurement.
• Up to four 16-bit general-purpose timers and one 16-bit advanced timer for versatile time-based operations.
• Two high-speed SPI interfaces (including quad QSPI at 24 Mbps), two I²C interfaces (supporting Fast Mode+ at 1 Mbit/s), one I²S interface, and three UARTs (up to 6 Mbps).
• An integrated 3-channel DMA (Direct Memory Access) controller.
Complete Ecosystem:
The GD32C231 series features a comprehensive development ecosystem designed to accelerate product design. On the official website (gd32mcu.com/en), GigaDevice provides extensive documentation, including datasheets, user manuals, hardware design guides, application notes, and portability guides. A complete firmware package is also available, along with abundant sample code and development board resources.

The GD32 MCU family natively supports FreeRTOS, offering developers a lightweight and efficient open-source real-time operating system. To further simplify development, GigaDevice offers the GD32 Embedded Builder IDE free of charge—its proprietary development environment that integrates graphical configuration and intelligent code generation. The GD32 All-In-One Programmer supports essential Flash operations, such as programming, erasing, reading, and configuring option bytes. In parallel, the GD-Link debugger offers dual SWD/JTAG support with plug-and-play functionality. The new series is fully compatible with leading third-party tools, including Arm® Keil, IAR Embedded Workbench, and SEGGER Embedded Studio.
